Confluence | 12th – 20th September 2026
A confluence is a merging, or flowing together—the point where two rivers meet. At Trinity Buoy Wharf, resident artist Nicole Mollett has been absorbing the landscape of Bow creek, creating drawings and ceramic tile artworks inspired by maps, archival images of the industrial heritage which has shaped the River Lea.
Working with more than 180 local pupils from Bangabandhu Primary School and Globe Primary school, Mollett ran workshops which resulted in a series of collaborative scroll drawings of the Lea River.
Flowing alongside these contemporary outputs are a range of archival photographs of the vast Thames Ironworks that dominated Leamouth. Working from his Fitzrovia Noir Studio at Trinity Buoy Wharf, Garry unearthed these powerful pictorial memories from the Getty Images collection located just a little further up the River Lea This continues Garry’s practice of responding to the parallel histories of maritime industries and early photography, utilising the vast interior of the pontoon supporting the 350 ton Victorian coaster SS Robin moored here at Leamouth.
