Here is the final design for the poster for our first workshop down in Margate. I am looking forward to this one.

And so begins a new year, with many a somewhat bonkers/ambitious plan to do something wonderful. Here is the dummy poster design for our next workshop down in Margate. We will be having two public (anyone can join in) workshops, followed by a pub crawl performance in February.

The idea is that we will create a BRAND NEW Magic lantern set, with the help of the brave people of Margate. Thus whoever takes part will be immortalized in art. Below are a few examples of the sort of thing I mean. Set-painting and prop making is my current activity.

I gave a talk last week to SVAF in Kaleidoscope gallery in Sevenoaks. I called it ‘Collaborations, Costumes and Chaos’ and tried to cover 20 years of my most experimental work. Although some of the pieces I shared are no longer shown on my website, it was/is an important part of developing my practice, and I thought it was helpful for other artists to see my earlier performance pieces.

It is a cathartic process going through old videos and slides, and seeing artworks that perhaps you have forgotten you even made. It reminded me of all the amazing artists/people I have been lucky enough to work with. Also that the essential energy that drove me to be an artist is still there, although my body is somewhat less tone but my mind is a little wiser.
