Duncan Ward sees his drawings as running in parallel with his work in performance art. In both media he is exploring similar ideas of wallowing, ecstasy, unlearning, resensitization, rebellion against form, and getting to know things from the inside out. Ward frequently employs mountain and nest motifs as containers for formless material. Lately he has begun to use large-scale drawings as backdrops to performances.
